CORDOVA DRAGWAY PARK - The 2009 schedule is very aggressive for Cordova Dragway Park. Returning events include the NHRA Hot Rod Heritage Series Affiliate “The NostagliaFest”. In addition the oldest continuous major drag race in the World, the 56th O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing returns in August. In addition to these major events, Cordova will host several major bracket events including the 10 for 10K Bracket Bash, the OktoberFest of Drag Racing and more. The popular JuniorFest returns in the summer of 2009 as well.

CEDAR FALLS RACEWAY - New for Cedar Falls Raceway in 2009 is “Arm Drop Live”. The Arm Drop Live event is like Pinks-All Out without the interruption of the TV production group. “We anticipate that Arm Drop Live will be one of our biggest events in 2009” said Dan Driscoll. Also, returning on the major event schedule is the Night of Fire, the Terry Stumpf Memorial Event (big bucks brackets) and the Hot Rod and Harley’s Event.

EDDYVILLE RACEWAY PARK - Eddyville Raceway Park a beautiful 1/8th mile facility located in mid-southern Iowa has an aggressive schedule in place for 2009. New for the facility is the addition of the Street Car Challenge Series. The Series features the 10.5” tire class and outlaw Big Tire class as well. Returning on the major event schedule is the Musco Lighting Night of Fire, the World Fuel Altered Nationals and an additional Pro-Mod race to be announced soon. For sportsman racers, the bracket series returns along with some big money events as well.

1/20/09 - Swap Meet larger than ever before for 2009 - Following on a special swap meet promotion last month, the hardcore racers and rodder swap meet will be the largest in Drag Expo history. Not only visit the leading hardcore manufacturers, but check out the swap filled with hardcore used components gathering in from over 12 different states.

1/19/09 - Chris Duncan Race Cars in pre-show thrash - The rendering is in place and the determined crew is burring the late night oil to complete the new base chassis and body for their in-house 1970 1/2 Camaro for the Expo.

The Cynergy body was just delivered Saturday and Chris took just a moment to send us a peek of what the staff is work hard to show off this coming Saturday.

1/14/09 - Vendors, car corral and champions displaying cars at the World Drag Expo - A reminder, the fire marshal will be inspecting all vehicles to be on display looking for fuel tanks must be less than 1/4 full and taped over or locked, and positive battery lead must be disconnected from the battery.

Inspection will be done before the show begins on Saturday morning, and we must have access to the fuel tank and battery area if it is contained in a trunk, etc.. 1/14/09 - 2009 schedule features breaks between seminars to allow more "show time" - A popular revision to the Winner's Seminar Weekend in 2008 was the implementation of time breaks between each seminar.

"We had comments from seminar fans that the felt they were missing out on the show floor by attending all of the hardcore seminars that were scheduled throughout the weekend" commented Todd Silvey, "It was a very popular move in 2008 to schedule 1/2 to 1 hour breaks between seminars to allow for people to stretch-out and walk the Expo. 2/25/08 - Drag News Magazine Acquired by Drag Illustrated - As of the April 2008 issues, Drag Illustrated will acquire the readership of Drag News Magazine. After exactly 20 years of publication, Laurie and Todd Silvey will continue to concentrate on the racing industry with their successful marketing company, the GoFast Group, and will continue their racing event promotions and the World Drag Expo."

The 2009 World Drag Expo, the fourteenth year of the highly successful show, will be held on January 24 and 25, 2009 , once again at the Renaissance Schaumburg Convention Center. Todd and Laurie have already started working on some more exciting happenings to add to everything taking place that weekend. Make plans now!

2/3/08 - Bolden Wins Plasma Cutter - The grand door prize winner of the complete torch plasma cutter system was John Bolden from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

John was out braving the recent nasty snow storms on a business trip and elected to stop by the Drag News/GoFast Group offices to pick-up his prize. Show is John with business partner Joel Kotarsky picking up Joe's World Drag Expo prize.

1/29/08 - 2009 World Drag Expo Date - The 2009 World Drag Expo will be held on January 24th and 25th, 2009.

Notice that the show will permanently be moved from the 3rd weekend of January to the 4th weekend of January.

"This is a great opportunity to move the show to the weekend break between NFL football playoffs and Superbowl weekend." explained Todd Silvey, "Though racers will be racers, we have seen lots of Green Bay jersey-wearing attendees in 2008 and plenty of Bears playoffs fans in 2007. As long as the NFL does not move the Superbowl weekend again, we're all good for the future."

1/13/08 - Vendor Move-In on Friday ONLY - ALL trade show, swap meet and car corral vendor move-in will take place on Friday, January 18, 2008 from 9 am through 6 pm. There is NO move-in on Saturday morning, other than last minute items that may be hand-carried through the front door. 1/13/08 - Free trolley shuttle service available - The Village of Schaumburg provides a Free trolley shuttle service to the Convention Center linking it with all major Woodfield area shopping attractions including many dining venues. Download the brochure here to see the details.

1/9/08 - Countdown for online ticket sales - 6,500 hardcore racers through the front door may mean a short wait on Saturday and Sunday morning. You can pre-purchase your admission tickets for the World Drag Expo until 10 pm on January 14th for the upcoming expo on January 19th and 20th. You will be sent a will call receipt via e-mail, pick-up your entry arm bands with your receipt at the will call booth and you're in the show!

All ticket sales after January 14th will be at the ticket sales counters in the lobby of the expo on the 19th. The World Drag Expo has added four times the tickets booths in previous years to ease ticket lines. Ticket sales on Saturday the 19th will begin at 8am with the show doors opening to the public at 9am.

1/8/08 - CDRC to Display New Pro/Mod and Top Sportsman Cars - As of this morning, tubing is formed on the jig and the hand written sign says "10 DAYS TO GO". Chris Duncan Race Cars will debut their new Pro/Modified Corvette chassis in booths 1011 to 1017. The chassis will be featured in "bare frame" for racers to see raw detail work while a completed Top/Sportsman Cobalt will show the shop's finished product. Duncan will also show their new brand of CDRC bracketry and 4-link kits

1/4/08 - Attention all vendors displaying cars at the World Drag Expo - Just a reminder, the fire marshal will be inspecting all vehicles to be on display at the show, looking for the following safety issues. The fuel tank must be less than 1/4 full and taped over or locked, and any battery must be disconnected and connections taped.

A fire marshal inspection will be done before the show begins on Saturday morning, and we must have access to the fuel tank and battery area. If you do not plan to be there at the time of inspection, please leave them accessible. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact Laurie at (217) 636-8103 before the show.

1/2/08 - Get your advanced tickets before January 14 - Don't forget, advanced ticket sales are only available until January 14, so order before that date. Bring your receipt and photo ID to pick up your advance tickets. We will open Will Call on Friday January 18 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for Advance Ticket pick-up only. The will call will be open on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.

1/1/08 - Shorter lines this year - Attendees to the World Drag Expo in 2007 faced a long wait in line to purchase their tickets. To alleviate that problem, four times as many ticket windows will be open this year during the big rush times. We listen to your comments and compliments and appreciate our attendees. Our promise to you is to get you into the show in a much shorter time. Ticket windows will open at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday with the show opening at 9:00 a.m. both days.
